Garth is contributing to a new archeological study of the Healing Sanctuary of Asklepios focusing on the Thymele, a round structure with a labyrinth coiled chamber beneath the floor. Peter Shultz (Chair, Dept of Art, Concordia College) and Bronwen Wickkiser (Professor Vanderbilt University) theorize that the Thymele was used as a sound chamber to enhance sacred rituals that prepared patients for healing in a dream state by the deity Asklepios.
